My Story
I’m Simon, and this is a little about me. Nothing short of a pizza enthusiast, I have always had a deep and overwhelming passion for anything pizza and this has translated into cooking and experimenting with different flavours and ingredients in the kitchen at home. But there is something special about the process of making pizza that truly excites me and my site is where I share what I have learned and continue to learn each time I make pizza.
Growing up, pizza was always part of my household especially as my parents owned and operated a pizza shop in the western suburbs of Melbourne for many years. From watching my dad arrive at the shop early to prepare that evening’s dough and ingredients, to watching him serve customers and create what I would eventually fall in love with, PIZZA. I still remember the aroma in the shop and getting to make my own pizza for dinner after coming back after Taekwondo with my younger brother.
As I got older, I started to become more interested in the art of making pizza from scratch. Pizza, regardless of what some people say, is a science. So much goes into making pizza and when you can finally perfect it, there is an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. So, I began to experiment with different dough recipes and techniques, as well as creating my own unique sauces and topping combinations.
One of the things I love most about making pizza is the versatility of it. You can go as simple or as complex as you want with your ingredients and flavours. Whether you are in the mood for a classic Neapolitan with just tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil, or something more creative like a BBQ chicken pizza with a ranch base, the options are endless.
